look APMPQ - Is it for you?
Insight

The key thing to remember when considering the PQ is that it is quite unique in that it is not a course, there are no trainer inputs, it is an assessment centre.

So you may have lots of project management experience, but that may still not prepare you for assessment. We recommend that all candidates have their APMP, in essence this is what the PQ is testing, your ability to apply a project management structure to delivery of a non-complex project. The highest failure rate is amongst candidates who do not have APMP or equivalent, not because they don't have sufficient knowledge but that they can't show evidence of application in a structured way. So if you don't have APMP, you are going to have to convince us that you are at that level.

There is now an on-line preparation module which brings candidates up to the level of thinking they need to be at for tackling, what is a rigorous appraisal of their project management skills and how they work with others. You can now also get a pre-assessment carried out for £195 plus vat, this fee is deducted when you do your actual PQ. Doing this will give you the greatest level of preparation possible and reduce your chances of failure.

If you are thinking about putting yourself forward for assessment and want to discuss your experience further, then the best thing to do is call us for a chat. You could also download the following pieces of information;

APM PRACTITIONER QUALIFICATION

The APM Practitioner Qualification is for project managers, project coordinators and team leaders who have three to five years experience in managing non-complex projects. This is an intermediate qualification for project management practitioners who can demonstrate an ability to manage non-complex projects or run a key control function of a large-scale project. This qualification (IPMA Level C) is for any relatively experienced professional who is looking to demonstrate their ability.

NEW - NON RESIDENTIAL OPTION NOW AVAILABLE AT £1475 PLUS VAT INCLUDING APM ASSESSMENT FEES

Are you ready for practitioner?

FIND OUT FOR CERTAIN BEFORE YOU ATTEND
Now you can find out if you are ready for the Practitioner Qualification with our online Assessment Readiness Quotient (ARQ). Increase the chances of you getting your PQ first time and avoiding resit costs. For a fee of £195 plus vat (offset) you will get access to our online case study and feedback mechanism, allowing you to prepare for assessment in a more focused and direct way under the guidance of our PQ mentoring team. Then when you are ready for assessment the £195 fee will be offset against the full PQ fees.

New online preparation module now available

All 2011 practitioner qualification dates include an optional online preparation module, this negates the need to attend a class based preparation event. The preparation module is fully included in the fee and includes a PQ Preparation Module dynamic case study to follow and candidates will receive feedback prior to commencement of the assessment process.

The main aim of the preparation module is to ensure candidates are fully aware of the expectations of assessment and allow candidates to prepare in the best way possible. We fully expect that all candidates who progress through the preparation module to pass with flying colours!

So if you book any of our assessments throughout the UK during 2011 you will be emailed your log on details that will allow you to get a head start on preparing for success in obtaining this internationally recognised qualification.

Alternatively if it has been some time since you attended one of the APM qualification courses or you have other project management qualifications you may feel that you need more of a foundation, our Learning in a Box approach to PQ has it's own dedicated website packed with resources - view it at www.myapmpq.com

What about your experience?
Candidates who have not previously attended the Edison APMP course or who feel they may require some development work to reach this stage, should contact us for advice. The learning in a box option will provide a five week preparation period prior to assessment it is recommended for candidates who have sat their APMP some time ago or with a training provider other than Edison.

In 2011/12 Edison will be offering over 12 dates throughout the UK and all candidates who successfully complete the practitioner qualification will gain full APM membership.

What is assessed?
Assessment will run over two and a half days and will be held at an APM approved assessment centre, where you will be engaged in:

  • Individual work: You will be expected to answer written questions based on a case study and a question regarding current issues in project management.
  • Group work: Working in groups you will be observed discussing and solving problems related to the case study.
  • Interview: Candidates will be interviewed by their assessors.

This Qualification assesses a candidate’s ability to apply project management skills and techniques to a non-complex project, or to assist in a more complex project. It will be assessed against 30 criteria, demonstrating that they can analyse, identify, and understand issues and information surrounding a non-complex project.
